Medfrench

The program without frames

Medfrench is a software package orginally created to prepare students for the study of medieval texts in Old French. It was designed to enable beginners to recognize the variant forms represented by the medieval stage of the language by specific reference to modern French, and to provide a series of glosses for every word in a give text-extract, ensuring for students a secure learning environment.

It was originally created by Alan Hindley and Brian J. Levy of the University of Hull between 1988 and 1991; the version presented here has been updated by Rosalind Brown-Grant and Katherine Fenton (University of Leeds, 2007).
